We are Scotland’s leading housing association for older people, with affordable, modern, and safe housing and services across the country. We manage more than 5,000 homes on more than 200 housing developments, offering rented housing and acting as factoring agents to more than 2000 homeowners.
We provide community alarms to thousands of people across Scotland. The easy-to-install and easy-to-use device is attached to a telephone, allowing the user to contact a highly trained operator at any time – day or night – for help, reassurance or to alert loved ones or emergency services.
Hanover Commercial is a round-the-clock call centre helping more than 45,000 people across Scotland. We work closely with other leading housing associations, local authorities and charities, supplying community alarm and telecare services and a range of other services.
Our modern, fully accessible conference centre is an affordable venue with high quality features. Located at our head office in Edinburgh’s city centre, Hanover Conference Centre offers a wide range of meeting rooms and a conference room seating up to 100 people. We also provide range of value added services, from high quality catering to video conferencing, and offer a very attractive range discounts to non-profit organisations and repeat bookings.
Apart from our customers, our staff are our most important asset. We employ more than 500 dedicated people at our housing developments, area offices and in our head office. We’re also Investors in People accredited and are committed to becoming an Employer of Choice.

Putting the customer first
“Putting the customer first” is one of our key strategic priorities. We have rigorous customer service standards in place and are working towards achieving customer service excellence in all of our areas of operation.
History and Governance
We are non-profit making, run by a Board whose members serve without remuneration. The day-to-day running of the organisation is undertaken by Chief Executive Helen Murdoch and her team of Directors and staff.
We are registered as a charity with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) and registered as a housing association with the Scottish Housing Regulator.
We were formed 1979. Prior to this, we were part of Hanover Housing Association which still operates in England today.
