A primary 5 pupil at Lady of our Missions Primary School in Thornliebank has won a p4-7-wide competition to design your dream home, run by Ashleigh Building and Hanover (Scotland) Housing Association to mark the opening of their new development at Waterford Court, Giffnock.
As part of Ashleigh and Hanover’s community engagement programme they asked pupils at Lady of our Missions to design their dream home and what would be inside it. P5 pupil Lily Cook’s colourful and creative design caught the judges’ attention with its unique layout, including a slide from Lily’s bedroom to the cinema room and the outdoor pool, as well as a soft play area and a bridge to the tree house.
Cllr. Jim Fletcher, Ashleigh’s Business Co-ordinator Claire Hosie and Hanover’s Enhanced Housing Manager Janice McDonald visited the school on Monday 21st November to present Lily with her prize at the school’s assembly. After presenting Lily with her certificate and prize, Cllr. Jim Fletcher said:
“I am delighted to be here today congratulate Lily on winning Ashleigh and Hanover’s dream home competition. The attention to detail and care Lily has taken in drawing her dream home is clear and I especially like how colourful and creative her design is – maybe one day it will come to life!”
Ashleigh’s Business Co-ordinator Claire Hosie said: “It is great to be here to present Lily with her prize for drawing such an attractive, original and technical dream home. Engaging with the community is really important to Ashleigh and I’d like to thank all the pupils for taking part.”
Hanover’s Enhanced Housing Manager Janice McDonald said: “We really enjoyed judging this competition and were very impressed by the quality of entries. Lily’s design was chosen as the winner because it caught our eye due to the perspective it was drawn from, the attention to detail and beautiful colouring. Well done Lily!”
