Job Description: Telecare Operator
A call comes through. An elderly, distressed customer tells you that he has fallen down in his flat. You talk calmly, ask questions. You call an ambulance. You also call his family. When the ambulance arrives the customer is calm because you have reassured him that help is on the way. He is taken to hospital and his daughter is there to meet him.
Hanover Telecare provides round-the-clock emergency call handling services and emergency repairs services to older and more vulnerable individuals throughout Scotland, enabling them to live independently and safely in their own homes.
Our team members provide essential, and occasionally, life-saving, assistance to our customers. They make a difference every single day.
We are delighted to be recruiting for a new Telecare Operator to join our team in Edinburgh and contribute to this important service. Our ideal candidate must care; about our customers and about our service.
Your communication skills must be exemplary. Your listening skills and probing questions will quickly establish the reason for the call, whilst your calming yet decisive manner will reassure individuals who may be distressed. You will be able to grasp a range of complex procedures and apply them systematically, never forgetting the high levels of customer service we expect our staff to provide.
You may come from a care, customer service or call centre background and you will have excellent computer and keyboard skills. This is an office-based role that requires a good level of written English and fast, accurate typing. A comprehensive induction and training programme will be provided for your first few months.
You’ll be working in one of the sector’s most forward-thinking organisations, one that strongly values its staff and customers. We’re Investors in People and Investors in Diversity accredited, and offer a highly competitive benefits package including generous annual leave, a choice of pension scheme, childcare vouchers and bike to work scheme amongst others.
Due to the volume of applications we receive, it is not possible to reply individually. Invitations for interview will normally be issued within 3 weeks of the closing date. If you have not been invited to interview by this date you have been unsuccessful in this instance.
CVs will not be considered. Please quote reference number above in correspondence.
Interview date: Friday 20 January 2017
