Hanover marks World Menopause Day

October is World Menopause Month and 18 October specifically was World Menopause Day. Hanover Scotland has been working over the last week to raise awareness, break the stigma and highlight the support options available for improving health and wellbeing.

As an employer, Hanover is conscious that 1 in 4 women have considered leaving a job due the to the impact of the symptoms of menopause and 1 in 10 have actually left a job. As part of our commitment to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all employees, Hanover has taken an active approach to tackling this issue with the aims of:

  • increasing awareness and understanding of the menopause and how it can impact on the working lives of employees;
  • promoting an environment where employees are able to openly and comfortably discuss matters related to the menopause in the knowledge that any such discussions will be handled respectfully and in a supportive manner; and
  • outlining the support which is available to employees affected by the menopause

Across this week, Hanover’s Wellbeing Group has been providing daily bitesize chunks of information, advice and signposting to all employees.
