Hanover Scotland is taking steps to create a menopause friendly workplace

For Hanover, creating a menopause-friendly workplaces is crucial for fostering inclusivity and supporting employees’ wellbeing. Women form a significant portion of our workforce and addressing the challenges they face during menopause is an essential element of being a resilient organisation.

Hanover has begun the journey towards achieving Menopause Friendly accreditation.  We will be tackling key areas of the business to ensure that we are genuinely menopause friendly.  These areas include our culture, our policies and practice, our training, our engagement with colleagues and our facilities.

Why are we doing this? Accommodating menopause in the workplace enhances employee retention and productivity – organisations can empower women to manage their symptoms effectively, thereby reducing absenteeism and maintaining productivity levels.

Furthermore, promoting a menopause-friendly environment fosters a culture of respect and inclusion – key Hanover values. Finally, addressing menopause openly reduces stigma and encourages open dialogue. By normalising discussions around menopause, organisations can break down barriers, increase awareness, and provide necessary support to employees navigating this life transition.

In essence, embracing menopause-friendly practices is not just a matter of corporate responsibility; it’s a strategic investment in employee wellbeing and organisational success. By recognising and accommodating the needs of menopausal employees, organisations can create happier, healthier, and more productive workplaces for everyone.
